Job Description
Location: Nairobi, with oversight of other regions
Reports To: Head of Business Development
Job Purpose:
The Sales Manager will lead and manage the sales team in achieving revenue targets, implementing sales strategies, and ensuring consistent growth in the distribution and sale of construction materials across Nairobi and other regions. This role involves strategic planning, team structuring, performance management, and close collaboration with the Head of Business Development to align sales goals with the company’s overall objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales Strategy and Planning:
• Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and market expansion.
• Analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities.
• Set and monitor annual, quarterly, and monthly sales objectives for the team.
• Create and execute a detailed sales plan, including regional expansion strategies.
2. Team Management and Development:
• Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing sales team.
• Structure and organize the team to maximize efficiency and coverage in Nairobi and other regions.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to ensure team members meet individual and collective targets.
• Foster a collaborative and motivated work environment to encourage team success.
3. Revenue and Target Management:
• Ensure the team meets or exceeds revenue targets consistently.
• Track sales performance and prepare detailed reports for the Head of Business Development.
• Develop pricing strategies and oversee discount and promotional policies to drive sales.
4. Customer Relationship Management:
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
• Oversee the resolution of customer issues to ensure satisfaction and loyalty.
• Monitor customer feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement.
5. Regional Market Expansion:
• Lead the sales efforts in expanding the company's footprint in other regions beyond Nairobi.
• Identify and develop new regional markets, partnerships, and distribution channels.
• Coordinate with local teams to ensure alignment with the company’s overall sales goals.
6. Reporting and Communication:
• Prepare regular sales forecasts, budgets, and reports for the Head of Business Development.
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., logistics, marketing) to ensure smooth operations.
• Provide strategic input to senior management on sales trends and business opportunities.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in sales management, preferably in the construction materials or related industry.
• Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
Technical Skills:
• Strong knowledge of sales techniques, market analysis, and strategic planning.
• Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Understanding of the construction materials market and its distribution channels.
