Job Description

Our client, a moving and logistics company, is looking for a Clearance Officer. The Clearance Officer is responsible for managing the customs clearance process for imported and exported goods. They ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, coordinate with stakeholders, and facilitate the timely release of shipments. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of customs procedures, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and submit accurate documentation for customs clearance, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
• Ensure compliance with local and international customs regulations and trade laws.
• Liaise with customs authorities, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and other third parties to resolve clearance issues.
• Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., procurement, logistics, and finance) to gather necessary information for clearance.
• Stay updated on changes in customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements.
• Ensure all shipments meet legal and regulatory requirements to avoid delays, penalties, or seizures.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in documentation or customs declarations.
• Address queries or issues raised by customs authorities promptly and effectively.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of all clearance documents, permits, and certifications.
• Verify and calculate duties, taxes, and other fees associated with imports and exports..
• Provide regular updates to management on clearance status and potential risks.
• Identify bottlenecks in the clearance process and recommend solutions to improve efficiency.

Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in customs clearance, logistics, or trade compliance.
• Familiarity with customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in customs clearance software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of import/export regulations and procedures.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Time management and organizational abilities.

Salary:
Ksh 40,000.00 Monthly
