Job Description

About the role
The Assistant Security Manager will report directly to the Security Manager. He will offer support to manage a team of over 100 security staff. He will coordinate day to day security activities in liaison with the Security Manager which includes among others attendance, deployment and welfare. We are looking for a candidate who is firm and at the same time fair in discharging his mandate, with a demonstrated experience in security operations at a senior level in a well-established organization. The ideal candidate should have a passion in conservation and community service which is part of Mukutan Conservancy ideals.

‐ Mukutan Community adjacent to the conservancy,
‐ Government Partners such as but not limited to: KWS, KFS, NPS, Local Government Administration, County and National Government Officials,

What you will do
- Assist the Security Manager with the implementation of security strategies and plans.
- Develop and plan routine security operations in accordance with the operational output of the security strategy.
- Deploy security personnel, including NPR officers and K-9 unit as per approved plans for safety of staff, wildlife, natural resources and conservancy property.
- Monitor and improve on security department stores and inventory management.
- Offer support in conflict resolution between different communities and the conservancy on need basis.
- Identify training needs by developing and implementing training plans for the security department.
- Enforce good discipline among the security personnel and ensure set standard operating procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure efficient operations in the security control hub.
- Maintain proper up to date security records.

What you will bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Security Management is desirable. Diploma in Security Management combined with training from KWS on Wildlife Management and Paramilitary training will be a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in security operations at middle management level in a reputable organization. Experience in conservation and wildlife management is a plus.
- Good understanding of the industry regulations and laws, including firearms and security procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and various security equipment like radio calls and tracking devices.
- Ability to take proactive initiative, work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong work ethics, high integrity and honesty, and ability to work well in a team.
- Good leadership skills with ability to manage complex operations.
- Must be between the ages of 35 and 45.
