Background:
Basecamp foundation Kenya is a non-profit trust that implements sustainable development projects in the Maasai Mara since 2009. Our main objective is to transform lives by empowering communities through sustainable community projects, promoting micro enterprises, promoting primary education and climate mitigation strategies.
We are looking for a qualified individual to be the lead person in all communication needs of the organization and assist in the Finance and admin Department. The job will entail general administrative support, summative report writing, editing and update of all the organizations’ social media platforms.
Job description
This position will be based at the field office Talek Maasi Mara.
Communication Duties & Responsibilities
• Daily & Timely update of all the organizations’ social media and communication platforms. i.e., Website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Google drive.
• Develop and implement social media strategies to increase brand awareness and engagement.
• Production of a monthly E-newsletter focusing on all key events and activities.
• Production of the E-annual program report.
• Documenting stories of change in all the BCFK projects and related programs that impact on the project work.
• Coordinating with Project staff to ensure that stories for the weekly highlight are submitted and shared for website update & internal circulation.
• Ensuring that child protection and safeguarding standards are adhered to during all communications related work from content development to dissemination Photography and Videography.
• Ensure that only high-resolution photos and short videos for use on different platforms including the website, publications and on social media are taken and uploaded.
• Editing photos (when there is a need to) and short videos to ensure good quality of work Events and Supporting Project Activities.
• Supporting ongoing project and corporate events and activities through photography, story collection and media engagement in consultation with Admin, Program manager and M&E officer.
• Supporting in organising events selected calendar days, donor visits and extra-ordinary project activities.
• Ensuring that the cameras, recorders and accompanying accessories assigned to the project team are taken care of by keeping an inventory list to keep track.
• Any other assignment within the scope of work.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Qualifications:
• A bachelors’ degree in Communications field or related field - Public Relations, Journalism & media or related field, with 1-year experience.
• Diploma in Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media, or a related field with Two (2) years relevant experience.
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Adobe suite/ Microsoft Publisher) & Desktop Publishing.
• Must have an active linked-in profile.
• Basic photography, basic videography and interviewing skills.
• Desired Skills: Excellent Writing and oral communication, events planning and Community engagement skills. Ability to support and tell impact stories.
• Basic skills to build project team skills on documentation for profiling achievements.
