Job Description

Department: Finance
Location: Nairobi
Reports To: Finance Manager
Job Purpose:
The Data Entry Clerk will support the Finance Department by accurately inputting financial data into the company’s software system, maintaining up-to-date records, and ensuring data integrity. This entry-level role is ideal for a recent graduate in Finance seeking to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Entry and Record Maintenance:
• Accurately input financial transactions, invoices, receipts, and other data into the company’s software system.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date digital and physical records of financial information.
• Verify data for accuracy and completeness before entry.
2. Financial Reporting Support:
• Assist in generating reports and summaries from the financial data system as required by the Finance Manager.
• Ensure timely entry of data to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting deadlines.
3. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
• Ensure all financial data entry aligns with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Perform regular checks to identify and correct data discrepancies or errors.
• Safeguard sensitive financial information by adhering to data confidentiality policies.
4. Collaboration with the Finance Team:
• Work closely with other finance staff to clarify and resolve discrepancies or missing information in source documents.
• Assist in preparing documents and data for audits or financial reviews.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Prior experience in data entry or finance-related roles is an added advantage but not mandatory.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong typing speed with attention to detail and accuracy.
