About the Client:
Our client is a leading innovative construction solutions provider in East Africa who has a proven track record of performance driven by solid knowledge and experience in the construction industry and is seeking to recruit a Truck Driver who will be responsible for transporting materials, equipment, and goods to and from construction sites safely and efficiently. The driver will also be responsible for inspecting and maintaining the vehicle to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
• Transport construction materials, tools, and equipment to designated sites.
• Deliver supplies such as sand, gravel, concrete, and other materials as directed by supervisors.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections, including checking oil, tires, lights, and brakes.
• Ensure that the truck is clean, well-maintained, and in good operating condition.
• Report any mechanical issues or damages to the maintenance team promptly.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Follow traffic laws and company driving policies to ensure safe transportation.
• Ensure secure and safe handling of hazardous materials, if applicable.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including trip logs, delivery notes, and fuel usage.
• Complete required paperwork for delivery receipts and material transportation.
• Verify delivery instructions and ensure correct delivery locations.
• Collaborate with site managers, construction workers, and logistics personnel for timely deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding delivery schedules, delays, or other issues.
• Assist in loading and unloading materials when necessary.
Key Qualifications:
• KCSE Certificate
• Driving license class BCE endorsement
• Possession of a defensive driving certificate an added advantage
• Relevant safety training programs will be considered an added advantage
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for heavy trucks.
• Certification for handling and transporting hazardous materials (if required).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a truck driver, preferably in the construction industry.
• Familiarity with construction sites and delivery procedures is an advantage.
Competencies and Skills:
• Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record.
• Proficient in operating various types of heavy trucks, including dump trucks, flatbeds, and other construction vehicles.
• Ability to manage delivery schedules and meet deadlines.
• Efficient route planning to minimize travel time and fuel consumption.
• Keen eye for vehicle maintenance and safety checks
• Strong communication skills to interact with team members and clients.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
• Ability to handle unexpected situations, such as roadblocks or vehicle breakdowns.
• Quick decision-making skills to ensure timely deliveries
