Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accountant to manage financial transactions, reporting, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy in financial records, support budgeting and audits, and help drive financial efficiency across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS or GAAP).
Manage cash flow and support treasury functions.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
File statutory tax returns (e.g., VAT, PAYE, corporate tax) and ensure compliance with local regulations.
Assist with external audits and prepare audit schedules and documentation.
Monitor internal controls and suggest improvements to accounting procedures.
Maintain and reconcile fixed asset register.
Prepare payroll journals and coordinate with HR/payroll teams.
Key Skills & Tools:
Proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or SAP.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
5–10+ years of accounting experience, depending on level.
Experience in [insert relevant industry, e.g., NGO, FMCG, banking] is an added advantage.
