Duration: 9 months contract (Renewable)
Introduction
Basecamp foundation is a non-profit organization seeking to recruit a handyman / grounds personnel to join its dedicated team in Masai Mara.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following Duties & Responsibilities.

▪ Plan and seek direction on all repair works using maintenance manuals.
▪ Inspect all physical structures within the compound and prepare a status report that would inform the need for any maintenance work.
▪ Inspect, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
▪ Inspect the drainage system and septic tanks & soak pit, unclog filters, or perform necessary maintenance actions, following a preset checklist.
▪ Routinely monitor all power points to ensure there is no power surge.
▪ Repair roofs, windowpanes, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, counters, benches, partitions, or other wooden structures, such as sheds or outbuildings within the compound.
▪ Carry out simple repairs of water pipes and taps within the compound.
▪ Carry out simple paint jobs where necessary.
▪ Provide grounds keeping services, such as landscaping and cleaning roof gutters on all the buildings at the green center. Ensure the grounds / compound is kept clean through continuous teaming of hedges, grass, watering tress and picking of litter.
▪ Periodically lubricate all doors & window hinges and replace defective knobs and handles.
▪ Ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
▪ Clean all water storage eguipment regularly.
▪ Waste management. Ensure that all waste is sorted, recycled, incinerated or properly disposed.
Qualifications,
▪ Must have a K.C.P.E certificate.

Working Experience & skills:
▪ At least 2 years relevant working experience in a semi-skilled position.
▪ Basic knowledge in at least masonry (mjengo), simple repair works, grounds maintenance , basic carpentry work and plumbing work is hghly desirable.
▪ Good communication skills.
▪ A mastery of Swahili and medium fluency in English is recommended.
▪ Basic understanding on how to operate a differenttypes of lawn mowers and manual grass-cutting devices.
▪ Ability to maintain a simple garden.
▪ Basic knowledge on how to clean roofs and gutters.
▪ Basic knowledge on how to clean water storage equipment.
▪ Driving skills will be an added advantage.
