Assistant Dairy Farming

1. Duties/Responsibilities include:

Managing a day to day dairy herd feeding, milking, herd health to meet the milking potential of individual cows in the herd;
Plan management schedules for optimal nutrition and feeding, vaccinations, spraying, de-worming, hoof trimming, etc.;
Regularly conduct routine examinations of cows to identify illnesses, disease, injuries and otherwise ensure cows are healthy, document and keep up to date records and reports on milk production, cow health and feeding
Milking cows and maintain milk, milking equipment in hygienic condition, consistently;
Keep pastures, pens, stalls, watering and feeding troughs clean and sterilized;
Managing calving, breeding and herd reproductive activities for optimal herd production;
Carry out bio-security protocol routines for cow herd, heifers and calves on the Farm;
Keep feed stocks, pastures, fodder, silage and fences in required optimal usable status;
Ensure pasture and fodder establishment, management, harvest, preservation and utilization are harmonized with nutritional and feeding requirements of the dairy herd;
Promptly report broken/damaged equipment or structures for repairs and/or replacement;
