Heavy Duty Auto Technician

JOB SUMMARY

A Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing large vehicles such as trucks, buses, and heavy construction equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using computerized diagnostic tools.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Inspect vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, and steering mechanisms to ensure they are in proper working condition.
• Test-drive vehicles to ensure they are running smoothly and to diagnose malfunctions.
• Repair or replace malfunctioning components and parts.
• Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used.
• Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Skills and Qualifications:
• Technical expertise in heavy vehicle repair and maintenance.
• Problem-solving skills to diagnose and fix issues efficiently.
• Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting heavy parts and working in various positions.
• Attention to detail to ensure all repairs and maintenance are performed correctly.
• Customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients.
• Certification from recognized institutions preferred.

Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational training or an associate degree in heavy vehicle technology.
• Experience in a similar role is beneficial
• Languages: Ability to speak both English and French is desired
