Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Public Relations Intern to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced fintech environment, contributing directly to SmartPay's brand building and market penetration strategies. You will work closely with the Media and smart pay team to execute our comprehensive public relations plan, focusing on enhancing SmartPay's visibility, building relationships with key media outlets, and driving positive brand perception.
Responsibilities:
Media Relations: Assist in developing and maintaining a media database; pitch stories to journalists and editors across various media (news radio, tv ,print, online); help prepare press releases and media kits; monitor media coverage and prepare media outreach.
Event Support: Assist in planning and executing SmartPay events, including the annual "Call for Influential Figures" event; provide on-site support at events; help with media logistics .
Organize photoshoots for exclusive media exposure and promotional content that cater to the smart pay team's marketing and commercial needs.
Coordinate media appearances, public speaking engagements, and social media campaigns broadcast interviews that showcase the "smart pay team" and their contributions to the team's success on final inclusions.
Content Creation: Assist in developing engaging content for various platforms (website, social media, press releases); help research and write blog posts, articles, and other content; support the creation of video and multimedia content.
Social Media Management: Assist in managing SmartPay's social media presence; create engaging social media posts; monitor social media conversations and respond to inquiries; analyze social media analytics.
Crisis Communication: Assist in monitoring online conversations for potential crises; help develop and implement crisis communication strategies; support the PR Manager in responding to negative publicity.
Team Player Bio Profile Development: Contribute to the creation of compelling bio profiles for each SmartPay team members, highlighting their expertise and contributions to the company's mission.
Photography and Videography Support: Assist with the organization and execution of team photoshoots and video recordings for marketing and PR purposes.
Qualifications:
Good communication skills in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
Experience with media outreach and relationship building is a plus.
Passion for the fintech industry and financial inclusion in Kenya.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A proactive, creative, and results-oriented approach.
