About the Client:
Our client is a leading innovative construction solutions provider in East Africa who has a proven track record of performance driven by solid knowledge and experience in the construction industry and is seeking to recruit a Logistics/Inbound Manager. The job holder will be responsible for overseeing the operations and administration of the Katani Holding Area. This role is crucial in ensuring the seamless receipt, planning, and delivery of aggregate materials from the quarry to the company headquarter site located in Nairobi. The Inbound Manager will coordinate closely with the quarry team to maintain a sufficient supply of aggregates for internal use and manage the workforce and activities at the Katani site.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1. Material Management:
o Ensure timely receipt of aggregate materials from the quarry.
o Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient materials are available for internal use.
o Coordinate with the quarry team to forecast and plan material requirements.
2. Logistics and Delivery Planning:
o Plan and manage the transportation of aggregates from Katani to the company headquarter site located in Nairobi.
o Optimize delivery schedules to ensure timely supply while minimizing transportation costs.
o Address any logistical challenges to ensure smooth operations.
3. Site Operations and Administration:
o Oversee daily operations at the Katani site, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
o Manage site administration, including documentation, reporting, and compliance with safety regulations.
o Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for site operations.
4. Team Management:
o Lead, supervise, and support the 50 employees at the Katani site.
o Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations to ensure a high-performing team.
o Foster a positive work environment and address any employee concerns or conflicts.
5. Coordination and Communication:
o Act as the primary liaison between the Katani site and other departments, including the quarry team and company headquarter site located in Nairobi.
o Communicate regularly with senior management to provide updates on site operations and material status.
o Collaborate with other managers to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.
Key Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or site operations, preferably in the construction or materials industry.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
• Proficiency in inventory management and logistics planning software.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in site management.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proactive and able to take initiative.
Work Environment:
• The role is primarily based at the Katani Holding Area but may require visits to other sites or the quarry as necessary.
